General Objectives:

 

Graduates of St. Mary’s College are Ignacian Marian Leaders who possess a balance of perspectives and principles that equip them with the depth and breadth of their role as creative problem-solvers and managers in a fast-paced technological society.

 

Specific Objectives:

 

Bachelor of Arts in Communication


The program aims to provide the students with cutting edge skills and knowledge in the various aspects of communication in the context of the emerging media landscape grounded on the values of faith, excellence and service. The program also aims to adequately equip them with professional skills and analytical tools needed in teaching, managing and implementing communication program for development.


Bachelor of Secondary Education


The BSEd is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization / major in the secondary level.
It aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education.
After successful completion of all academic requirements for the degree/ program, graduates of BSEd should be able to practice the teaching profession in the Secondary Level.


Bachelor of Elementary Education


The BEEd is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to teach in the elementary level.

 

The BEEd degree program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for elementary education. After successful completion of all academic requirements of the degree/program, graduates of BEEd should be able to practice the teaching profession in the elementary level.


Bachelor of Science in Psychology


The program aims to provide undergraduate students with a solid basic foundation on the major areas of psychology which may also be used as preparation for further studies and training in particular specializations of psychology or other professions such as education, law and business management.


Bachelor of Science in Office Administration

 

This program prepares the students for a career in an outcome-focused, technology rich, professional environment. Courses in the curriculum are those that will thoroughly familiarize the students with current techniques in office practice and procedures, developments in office systems and technology, good team – working and management skills, and application of the principles of good human relations and communications to prepare them to be key players in a day-to day office operation. Lessons in writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively to employers, employees, and the general public are provided in selected courses. The BSOA Program also trains the students to work independently, without need for on-site supervision.


Bachelor of Science in Social Work


The program aims to prepare the students for generalist social work practice which requires the acquisition of and the application of beginning level of knowledge, attitudes, values and skills in enhancing the social functioning of individuals, families, groups and communities, linking people with needed resources, improving the operation of service delivery networks and promoting social justice through advocacy for just social policies.
